REMINDER - DG Ohio region presents: the art and craft of stage adaptation

Saturday, March 6, 2010 in Cleveland

The Ohio Region hosts its first program on Saturday, March 6th, at the Cleveland Play House, with a look at the special challenges of adapting works for the stage. The afternoon includes a 1PM panel discussion led by Play House artists. Panelists include Michael Bloom, Artistic Director of the Play House, whose adaptation of Jane Austen's EMMA appears, not coincidentally, on the mainstage. (Those who wish may attend the performance of EMMA at 3PM, immediately following the panel discussion). Other panelists include DG members Eric Coble and Eric Schmiedl, who develop their work in the CPH Playwrights' Unit. Coble most recently adapted HUCK FINN for the CPH Children's Theatre.

Schmiedl's adaptation of Kent Haruf's EVENTIDE is now on the boards at Denver Center.

There is no charge for the panel, although RSVPs are requested to fsholiton (at) ix(dot)netcom(dot)com. When you RSVP, we will forward a list of the local theater events and contact information. Our panel, for example, convenes on the set of BEAUTIFUL OHIO, an Ensemble Theatre production with a performance that evening.

We have reserved a limited number of discounted seats for the matinee performance of EMMA at $!0 (Students); and $23 for non-students. There is no handling charge since we are handling our own sales.

Having said that, we must release any unsold tickets on Friday, February 26. Your check, payable to the Cleveland Play House, MUST BE IN OUR HANDS BY THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 25th. Please mail it to: Faye Sholiton, 2401 Allen Blvd., Beachwood, OH 44122. (216) 292-6211.

We cannot guarantee seating for reservations that come in after deadline.

We look forward to welcoming you to America's oldest continuously running regional theater. For more information, visit http://www.clevelandplayhouse.com/

See you in Cleveland. And then, we hope, in your neck of the woods.
