Meeting Guidelines

Meeting Guidelines

These guidelines will be subject to change and are at best a jumping off point for members to refer to during a feedback session.

Our mission statement: The Drama Foundry is a community that provides opportunities for dramatic writers to hone their craft and forge new work.

This is first and foremost in what we do.

1. In the spirit of helping writers to develop their work, remember that all are here to learn, experiment, and make mistakes.

2. If you do make a mistake, don't be afraid to own it.

3. The writer determines the depth of feedback.

4. Refrain from making personal comments about the writer and also about what you like or dislike about the content of the work.

5. Don’t be prescriptive.

6. We ask the writers to bite their tongues and sit on their hands while people are giving feedback about their work.

7. Not all feedback no matter how well intentioned will be beneficial.

8. Save your disagreements for after the meeting.

9. Ask if you don’t know how to approach a topic. You can always invite yourself in.

10. The writer can change the topic or end the session at anytime for any reason.

Following these guidelines will probably not align all the planets in the Milky Way. However, they may help us to have a laid back and functional writers’ group.
